Yonsei University Successfully Concludes 2025 Nobel Week Student Delegation Program
The 2025 Yonsei Nobel Week Student Delegation, led by Provost Young Jong SOHN, successfully completed an academic, diplomatic, and cultural field program held in Stockholm, Sweden, from December 8 to December 10, in alignment with Nobel Week. The program was designed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the spirit and values of the Nobel Prize while fostering a global perspective that integrates academia, culture, and diplomacy.


On Day 1, the delegation visited Stockholm University, where students attended lectures delivered by Nobel laureates in Physics, Chemistry, and Economic Sciences. Through these lectures, participants gained insights into world-class research achievements and scholarly perspectives symbolized by the Nobel Prize, deepening their academic understanding of the significance of Nobel Week. The visit also included a campus tour, offering an overview of Sweden’s higher education and research environment. In the evening, a networking session was held with Yonsei University students currently participating in exchange programs at Uppsala University, providing an opportunity to share experiences of studying abroad and engage in peer exchange.

On Day 2, the delegation paid an official visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sweden for a formal meeting. Students engaged in discussions with Ambassador Hyung Jong LEE on Sweden’s international standing during Nobel Week, Korea’s role within Swedish society, and the importance of cultural and academic exchange between the two countries. Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Vasa Museum and the Nobel Prize Museum, where students explored Sweden’s historical heritage, the origins of the Nobel Prize, and the achievements of Nobel laureates.
On Day 3, the delegation visited the Korean Cultural Center in Sweden for a meeting with Director Jiman YOO. Students learned about the significance of cultural diplomacy and the role and activities of the Korean Cultural Center, followed by a guided tour of the facility. The program concluded with a visit to the Stockholm Concert Hall, the official venue of the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony, allowing students to experience the historic site firsthand. Participants also watched the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony live broadcast at the Nobel Prize Museum, marking the culmination of Nobel Week.
This program, centered on Nobel Week and integrating academic lectures, diplomatic engagement, and cultural institution visits, provided participants with meaningful academic inspiration and enhanced their global awareness. Students remarked that “being able to experience academic, cultural, and diplomatic sites firsthand during Nobel Week made this a truly meaningful and unforgettable experience.”
