“Yonsei Nobel Week” processes personal information for the following purposes: Personal information being processed will not be used for purposes other than those stated below. If the purpose of use changes, we will take the necessary measures such as obtaining separate consent in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.

  1. Website User Registration and Administration - To verify the user’s intention to register, manage users, prevent fraudulent use of services, provide various notices and notifications, and retain records for dispute resolution.
  2. Verification Related to the Provision of Various Services - To provide services for participation in various programs and to authenticate applicants for confirmation or changes to service applications.

Article 2 Processing and Retention Period of Personal Information

“Yonsei Nobel Week” processes and retains personal information within the period of retention and use as prescribed by law or within the period consented to by the data subject at the time of collection. The specific processing and retention periods are as follows:

  1. Website User Registration and Administration - Until the user withdraws from the website.
  2. Provision of Various Services - Until the completion of service provision.

Article 3 Matters Concerning the Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing

  1. For efficient processing of personal information tasks, “Yonsei Nobel Week” outsources the following personal information-processing activities:
    • Outsourced Party: Modn Communication Co., Ltd.
    • Scope of Outsourcing: Yonsei Nobel Week project operations and website operation
  2. Upon entering into an outsourcing agreement, in accordance with Article 26 of the Personal Information Protection Act, “Yonsei Nobel Week” specifies in the contract or other written documents the prohibition of personal information processing for purposes other than the performance of the outsourced tasks, technical and managerial protective measures, restrictions on re-outsourcing, management and supervision of the outsourced party, and liability for damages, and supervises the outsourced party to ensure safe processing of personal information.
  3. If the details of the outsourced work or the outsourced party change, we will promptly disclose such changes through this Privacy Policy.

Article 4 Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives, and Methods of Exercise

  1. The data subject may—at any time—exercise the rights to request access to or correction, deletion, or suspension of processing of personal information against “Yonsei Nobel Week.”
  2. The exercise of rights under Paragraph 1 may be made to “Yonsei Nobel Week” in writing, by e-mail, or by fax in accordance with Article 41(1) of the Enforcement Decree of the Personal Information Protection Act, and “Yonsei Nobel Week” will take measures without delay.
  3. The exercise of rights under Paragraph 1 may be made through a legal representative of the data subject or an agent authorized by the data subject. In such cases, a power of attorney must be submitted using the form prescribed in Annex Form No. 11 of the “Public Notice on the Method of Processing Personal Information (No. 2020-7).”
  4. Requests for access to personal information and for suspension of processing may be restricted under Articles 35(4) and 37(2) of the Personal Information Protection Act.
  5. Requests for correction or deletion of personal information may not be accepted where the personal information is specified as a collection target by other laws.
  6. When a data subject makes a request for access, correction/deletion, or suspension of processing as per the data subject’s rights, “Yonsei Nobel Week” verifies whether the requesting person is the data subject or a legitimate representative.

Article 5 Items of Personal Information Processed

  1. “Yonsei Nobel Week” processes the following items of personal information: Website User Registration and Administration - Required items: name, contact number, email, mobile phone number, region of residence, gender.
  2. In the course of using Internet services, the following personal information items may be automatically generated and collected: -IP address, cookies, MAC address, service use records, visit records, etc.

Article 6 Destruction of Personal Information

  1. “Yonsei Nobel Week” destroys personal information without delay when the retention period has expired, the purpose of processing has been achieved, or the personal information otherwise becomes unnecessary.
  2. If—despite the lapse of the retention period consented to or achievement of processing purpose—personal information must continue to be preserved under other laws, such personal information will be transferred to a separate database (DB) or stored in a different location.
  3. The procedures and methods for the destruction of personal information are as follows:
    • - “Yonsei Nobel Week” selects personal information for which a destruction reason has arisen and destroys such personal information upon approval by the Personal Information Protection Officer.
    • Destruction Methods - Personal information recorded and stored in electronic file format is destroyed so that the records cannot be reproduced, and that recorded and stored on paper is shredded or incinerated.

“Yonsei Nobel Week” does not use cookies to store and retrieve use information frequently for the purpose of providing customized services to users.

  1. “Yonsei Nobel Week” designates the following Personal Information Protection Officer who is responsible for the overall handling of personal information and for processing complaints and providing relief for damages related to personal information-processing:

  3. A data subject may file with the Personal Information Protection Officer a request to access personal information pursuant to Article 35 of the Personal Information Protection Act. The Personal Information Protection Officer will endeavor to process access requests promptly.

To seek remedies for personal information infringement, data subjects may apply for dispute resolution or consultation with the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee, Korea Internet & Security Agency’s Personal Information Infringement Report Center, and other bodies.
