  • What are the evaluation criteria?

    Evaluation is based on Relevance to Topic (25%), Creativity & Critical Perspective (25%), Clarity of Expression & Communication (20%), Completeness (15%), and Resonance (15%).

  • Under what circumstances is an award revoked?

    If plagiarism, ghostwriting, AI-generated content, format violation, or false information is confirmed, the award will be revoked and the prize money will be recovered.

  • Are submissions returned?

    Submitted works are not returned.

  • Is multiple awarding allowed?

    The same individual cannot receive awards in multiple categories. (One award per person, in principle)

  • How is the Group Award (Monami Award) conferred?

    The Group Award is provided in kind (goods). Recipient groups will receive delivery based on separate instructions.

  • When and how are prizes paid?

    Payment is made within 15 days of the awards ceremony.

    • Domestic awardees: Bank transfer upon submission of ID copy, bankbook copy, and personal information consent.
    • International awardees:  International remittance upon submission of passport copy, overseas account information (including SWIFT code), and personal information consent (remittance fees borne by the organizer).

     

    • Prize money is paid net of withholding (3.3%) under the Income Tax Act.

  • Is attendance at the awards ceremony mandatory?

    Winners are strongly encouraged to attend the awards ceremony in person.

    If unable to attend due to reasons such as residing abroad, notify the organizer in advance. In this case, online attendance is recommended.

    November 21, 2025 (Fri.) via announcement on the official website and individual email notification.

  • May winning works be edited for use?

    Yes.  Excerpting and video edits may be done for exhibition and promotional purposes,

    strictly within limits that do not distort the original meaning.

  • Who holds the copyright?

    Copyright remains with the entrant.

    However, the winning works may be publicly used for event promotion and record (e.g., white paper, exhibition, website, videos), and the entrant is deemed to have consented to such use

  • How are plagiarized or AI-generated works handled?

    All submissions must be original. Entries found to have been plagiarized, ghostwritten, or AI-generated will be excluded from review; if misconduct is discovered after awarding, the award will be revoked and the prize money will be recovered.

  • Is there a file-naming rule?

    File names must follow [Name_Category_Domestic/International].
    e.g., HongGilDong_Essay_Domestic/.docx

  • What are the submission specifications (format)?
    • Essay: A4, 2-3 pages, approximately 1,800–2,600 characters (including spaces); font Batang (or Times New Roman); body 11 pt; footnotes 10 pt; line spacing 1.5 (160%); file format MS Word or PDF.
    • Book Review: A4, 3-4 pages, approximately 2,600–3,600 characters (including spaces); font Batang (or Times New Roman); body 11 pt; footnotes 10 pt; line spacing 1.5 (160%); file format MS Word or PDF.
    • Video:  60-90 seconds, vertical 1080×1920, MP4, file size within 500 MB.
    • Essay & Book Review: Sources must be cited when quotations are used.

  • In what language must I submit?
    • Essay / Book Review: Korean
    • Video: There is no restriction on the language used in the video. However, Korean subtitles are required to ensure understanding of the content. The work description must also be provided in Korean.

  • May I submit multiple entries?

    Each applicant may submit one work per category. Entries may be submitted in other categories.

  • Are team applications accepted?

    As a rule, only individual applications are permitted.

    (For video submissions, collaborators may assist in production; however, exactly one individual must be designated as the applicant/representative.)

  • How is the division of domestic/international determined?

    The division of domestic or international is determined based on the applicant’s nationality.

  • Is there an entry fee?

    There is no entry fee for this competition.

  • What are the eligibility requirements?

    Eligibility extends to domestic and international youth and young adults born between January 1, 1990 and December 31, 2010.

    (Participation is permitted regardless of current school enrollment status.)
